Thank you so much to everyone who has joined, it is invaluable help to me.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why are you always asking people to join this stupid club?

My main job was an actor/comedian. Unfortunately the demand for middle aged men who look like potatoes has dropped off significantly over the past few years, so this is now my main source of income.

How do I get a membership number?

If you would like a membership number, first become a YouTube member by signing up for one of the monthly tiers then email cooldudeswalkingclub@gmail.com with your Youtube name, so I can check the list of members. Nice one. (Please note membership numbers are issued by me, YouTube does not offer this facility, so the prize draws for YouTube members are not related to these membership numbers.)

I cannot find the link to join on my browser

Just copy and paste this into your URL: http://youtube.com/c/CoolDudesWalkingClub/join

Why are you moving memberships onto Youtube?

The original membership packs were sold on the website for £10. Foolishly this was a miscalculation on my part, as once I had taken off postage costs, paypal charges, tax, and the costs of the goods themselves there was very minimal profit. The increase in costs coupled with giving away 50 prizes a year, meant I was losing money.

What do old website members get?

Old website members are still lifetime members, and will receive entry into four prize draws a year. I hope they will understand that I had to try and get a regular income to keep the website going, and hopefully will sign up to the 99p a month tier.

What do you spend the membership money on?

Travel and accommodation, web site hosting, camera equipment, hard drives, walking equipment and living costs.

How much of the payment goes to you?

I get 70% of whatever is paid. I looked at alternative websites such as Patreon and Kofi, but the costs were very similar and it seemed sensible to keep it all in one place.

I joined on the website, am I still a member and can I access the videos?

Unfortunately my website and YouTube are two separate entities so you cannot access the YouTube member videos. The majority of my content will still be visible to everyone.

If I joined on the website do I need a new membership number for my YouTube Membership?

No you keep the same number. The membership numbers are something I give out and are entirely separate from YouTube as it does not offer the facilities to do this.

How long do the videos take to make?

Each takes about six days, half a day planning, a day walking, three days editing, adding illustrations and music. Then about a day uploading to social media and then responding to all the comments.

I cannot see the join button on the channel page.

For some odd unknown reason the join button is only viewable on desktops in some cases. I have no idea why this is.

How many members would you need to do this full time?

The dream is to get to 1,500 which means I could probably survive without getting a job. But if I got even more members I would be able to travel to more far flung places.

One day I hope to travel to Japan and New Zealand.

What if I want a membership card?

The old membership packs are available on the website and are just called ‘Cool Dudes Stuff Pack’, just write in the order notes section that you would like me to include a membership card.

I cannot afford to join the club is there anything else I can do to support you?

Liking the videos and commenting is great support and helps the YouTube algorithms.

There is also merchandise for sale on the website.

I do not want to pay via YouTube, can I make a donation any other way?

Yes you can donate via Paypal, there is a link on my personal website: www.mareklarwood.com

Are there any extra benefits from joining the higher tiers?

Members of the Super Cool Dude (4.99) and Ultimate Cool Dude (8.99) can get free PDFs of the zines I make. Just email cooldudeswalkingclub@gmail.com with your YouTube name.

When you do a prize draw with YouTube members how do you work out who wins, is it from my membership number?

The random number generator number is not anything to do with the membership numbers I give out. I enter the amount of YouTube members into a random number generator. I then count from the oldest YouTube member to the newest, so the number bears no correlation to your membership number. Apologies for any confusion on this.
